Senior Project Manager - Hydropower & Hydraulic Infrastructure
Central role in Greenland's green transition – responsible for complex construction projects and technical delivery
Are you a strategic and experienced project manager with solid experience in large-scale civil works and hydropower infrastructure projects?
NunaGreen is looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead complex EPC projects and ensure technical quality, safety and sustainability in delivery.
About the position
As Senior Project Manager, you will have the overall responsibility for the project's success – from planning and regulatory approvals to commissioning and handover. Work will include the construction of hydropower plants and associated infrastructure to supply Nuuk, Qasigiannguit, and Aasiaat. You will be part of a highly skilled team, reporting to the Head of Construction, and working closely with EPC contractors, subcontractors, and authorities.
The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
Your main tasks
- Overall project management: Planning, budgeting, progress control, and quality assurance.
- Technical leadership of civil & structural works: Drill and blast tunneling, penstock installation, draft tube tunnels, tailrace channels, and rock reinforcement/stabilization.
- Contract and supplier management within the EPC framework including value engineering to optimize costs and performance.
- Coordination of electromechanical systems: Francis turbines, generators, transformers, switchgear assemblies, SCADA integration, and grid connection.
- Implementation of safety, environmental, and sustainability initiatives with a focus on reduced carbon footprint and water quality monitoring.
- Risk management: redundancy and fail-safe mechanisms, documentation of reliability and availability metrics.
Your profile
- Minimum 5-6 years of documented experience with project management in large-scale infrastructure, energy or hydropower projects (EPC or turnkey delivery).
- Technical education background (engineer, marine engineer, or equivalent) with strong experience in civil works and construction.
- Proven experience with contract negotiation, supplier management and handling of complex construction contracts.
- Practical knowledge of electromechanical systems, including Francis turbines, generators, and switchgears.
- Experience in grid integration (e.g. 132 kV high-voltage overhead transmission lines) and coordination of substations and high-voltage infrastructure.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, decision-making ability, and the capability to drive progress in complex projects.
- Fluency in Danish and English, both spoken and written.
