NunaGreen A/S is taking another significant step in harnessing Greenland’s vast energy potential. The government owned company has established a new subsidiary, NunaGreen Development A/S, effective January 1, 2025. This subsidiary will focus on the development and implementation of renewable energy projects.
“With NunaGreen Development A/S, we can accelerate our ambitions to drive the green transition both within and beyond Greenland. The company will not only help create new projects but also ensure that development occurs in collaboration with both local and international stakeholders,” says Aviaaja Karlshøj Knudsen, CEO of NunaGreen A/S.
“We see this as an exciting new chapter for NunaGreen A/S and for Greenland as a whole. NunaGreen Development A/S allows us to develop new, innovative solutions that can secure sustainable energy production for years to come,” explains Aviaaja Karlshøj Knudsen.
The new company aims to attract a wide range of expertise and focus on developing local skills. In collaboration with NunaGreen’s existing network and partnerships, NunaGreen Development A/S will work to develop and realize renewable energy projects.
A new employee will join in February to contribute to the development and execution of NunaGreen Development A/S projects.
With the establishment of NunaGreen Development A/S, we take another step toward achieving the ambition of our owner, the Government of Greenland, to utilize the country’s natural resources for renewable energy development. The goal is to realize these potentials to benefit the nation—both as a sustainable energy source for the population and as a commercial resource and revenue stream for Greenland.
NunaGreen Development is a natural extension of NunaGreen A/S’s mission to develop Greenland’s substantial energy resources for the benefit of society. The new company will not only work to deliver green energy to settlements and towns but also explore opportunities for exporting renewable energy.
